Packing Up

Jack has been working hard towards his Self Management Goal.  He is building more class routines as the term goes by.  He sits on the mat with his book bag, hands his kit book to Mrs Christiansen to check and then proceeds to pack his book bag. When asked to go put his book bag in his school bag he can do this with little assistance.

Patterns

In Maths today we made patterns.  Jack made his pattern of blue and red using the beads. Jack concentrated very hard on his hand-eye co-ordination when threading the beads.

When asked which colour was blue or red he pointed to it correctly.

Birthday Treat

Another awesome day at school.  It was Logans Birthday and we sat outside under the tree for his birthday treat.  We sung Happy Birthday and ate banana cake.  Jack sat with his class and watched Logan blow out his candles.  He ate the chocolate icing from the cake and his chippies.  A nice sunny Birthday treat.

Wonky Donkey

It was a beautiful hot day at Halcombe School.  Mrs Christiansen decided to do her reading groups outside on the field.  Vanessa took this opportunity to read Jack the Wonky Donkey book in the sunshine.  This is Jacks favourite book at present as he loves the flowing and rhyming text.  Jack really likes the pictures and when the donkey says "Hee Haw"!!!

Magnetic Letters

Jack loves to join in with his class mates.  One of the classes reading rotation is to make words with magnetic letters.  Jack often sits down and joins in too.  Paula has used this opportunity to teach Jack his spelling during this time.  It is wonderful to see Jack participating in whole class routines.

Science Experiment

This term we are learning about Chemistry.  We were doing experiments on different products to see if they dissolved in water.  Jack really enjoyed feeling the different textures of the products eg milo granules, jelly crystals, butter, sand etc.  Jack even tried drinking raro.  Great to see you trying different things Jack.
He watched and joined in with his class on the mat for most of the afternoon. :)

Teddy Bears Picnic

What a fun day at school.  Jack brought his Teddy (rabbit) Ivan.  Jack loved having Ivan at school. They had a lot of cuddles in the library corner.  Jack thought Pooh Bear was a great big cushion and loved giving him cuddles.  We had our teddy bears picnic in the hall and Jack sat with his classroom and enjoyed eating marshmallows and chips.

PET DAY

Pet day was a great success.  Jack brought his lamb Scoffs.  Jack enjoyed going over to see his Mum and Dad at the truck and to pat Scoffs.  He looked around the hall at all the creations and joined in on the pet parade.  At lunch time Jack had a sausage, and sat with friends at the picnic tables.  A very enjoyable day for Jack and his family.

Jack has had a wonderful term 3 learning and doing new things/activities.  Enjoy your holidays Jack.

Inventions Afternoon

Wednesday afternoon we got to share our inventions with the rest of the school.  Jack showed his sister Emma how his "Sunny Game" was played.  Jack also loved looking around at the other inventions and was very lucky to try out Logan's and Shaun's go-karts.  He thought the "sleepy Suit" was a major hit and gave Isaac a big cuddle.

Shapes

Jack likes to play matching games.  Here Jack is matching shapes and flashcards to the correct shape on the sheet.  Jack is also learning that shapes come in big and small sizes with the use of different flashcards. When you ask Jack which shape is the square etc he will point to it with little facilitation.
We are also introducing the word that matches the shape.

Dance Unit

Here Jack is dancing with Mrs Christiansen to One Direction
This term we  have been learning to dance.
Rm7 and Rm1 have been learning to folk dance and Hip Hop.
Jack joins in for both the folk and hip hop routines. He loves to skip and clap during the folk dance and watches the other children with a big smile on his face.
Jack loves dancing to the One Direction song "What Makes You Beautiful" and with help is learning the moves.
Jack will be part of the dance display shown to the rest of the school.

PUZZLES

Jack has been working hard at doing 2 piece and 3 piece puzzles.  This is great for his hand eye co-ordination. When doing the 3 piece puzzles he is learning which part of the puzzle makes up the back of the animal and which part is the head.
