FRIENDSHIPS

Over this last term Jack has achieved so many wonderful things.  He has also made alot of friendships, not only in his class but throughout the school.  Its great to see Jack play with his friends at morning tea and lunch time.  Jack is  interacting with his classroom peers a lot and also joins in with buddy class activities.
This is a great achievement.

Native Tree Planting

Room One children are planting some Native Trees behind the swimming pool to help save some of our endangered birds.  Jack rugged up all warm and thought it would be fun to join in and help.  He had alot of fun digging up the ground with the spade. Good work Jack.

ART WITH ROOM 6

Room 6 joined us for art and we made flax leaves out of newspaper and colouring them with pastels and dye before gluing them onto our backgrounds.  Jack and Logan (from Rm6) teamed up and created a very bright picture.  Logan and Jack worked well together and it was neat to see Jack working alongside Logan.

Swamp Eggs

Room 1 acted out the story, 'Swamp Eggs.'  Jack was fascinated by what was happening around him.  He watched the children crouching near him like eggs and decided to copy what they were doing.  When the baby pukeko's were born they needed to follow their mother.  Jack stood up and followed his pukeko mother too.  Jack was such a wonderful actor.  It was amazing to see Jack observe his peers and follow their lead.

Handwriting

During Handwriting time Jack writes his name and also the letter J with a starting point.
It is so great to see Jack have penmanship and forming his letters correctly.
Jack also does his handwriting in his ruled school book.  This helps Jack with starting points and learning to use only one page.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It was Jacks 6th birthday this week and he bought a yummy chocolate cake to share with his classroom.  It was a fantastic day for Jack and he really loved his friends singing him Happy Birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!!

CLAY NESTS

In art this week we made birds nests out of clay.
Jack really liked the texture of the clay. Using a small wooden stick we made marks in the clay to look like real nests.
When the nests were finished we rolled up small bits of clay to look like eggs. Jack really liked rolling the clay in his hands.

Congratulations Jack

We are all very excited to celebrate Jack learning to write his name.  You really deserved to get this certificate in assembly!
Here is a photo of the first time Jack wrote his name all by himself.

Endangered Animals

The topic this month in class is learning about endangered animals.  Mrs Christiansen brought a possum fur coat and rabbit scarf to show the children what some of our animals are getting made into.  Jack thought it would be a great idea to try on this coat and wear it around.

Jack has also shown interest in the class videos of endangered or extinct animals and what we can do to help.
