Room 2 Farm Trip

On Thursday the 21st November room 2 went on a farm trip.  Jack was very excited when he arrived at the farm.  He liked watching the calves drink their milk.  He had a fun ride on the rotary cow belt in the milking shed and he was also very lucky to have a ride in the farm ute down to the forest where he collected pine cones and joined in on class activities.  Jack sat with his class for lunch and enjoyed a nice cold iceblock.  We had a very fun day.

Art with Mrs Goodwin

Mrs Goodwin was the relieving teacher for the day and we got to do some cool hand and feet art work.  Jack thought this was a great idea!

He loved the feeling of paint on his hands and feet.  He was even very capable of washing his feet afterwards, however we did hose our head as well.  Lucky it was a hot sunny day Jack. :)

Cross Country

Jack had a blast at the school cross country.  He lined up with his year group ready to race.  He went all the way around the course and loved feeling the mud between his toes.  When he got to the creek crossing he leaped in with a great big smile.  Jack stayed in the water for quiet a while.  He then made his way up the big hill to the finish line.  Good effort Jack!

Jacks Outing

Jack had a fanstastic trip to Mount Lees Reserve.  He loved playing on the slide and swing and then he enjoyed a walk along the bush track and through the daffodils.  On the way Jack spotted some doves and was most intrigued with them.  He kicked a ball around on the big lawn and lots of laughter was had.  He liked sitting in the picnic area for a rest.

Jack was extremely well behaved and loved all the different sights, sounds and textures.

Daffodil Day

Jack took part in the Daffodil Day Parade with his classroom.  There was lots of laughing and dancing.

Biscuit Art

Last week on friday we got to ice/decorate some biscuits.  Jack loved the icing and he did a great job of icing his biscuits before eating them.

ART DAY

On Monday we had a junior art day.  We went to different classrooms and participated in creating different types of art.  Jack enjoyed visiting the other classrooms and made three different pieces.  He was very hands on and made some really neat art pieces.

Room 2s Garden

Jack enjoyed getting out in the sunshine and helping Room 2 plant new vegetables in their garden. 

He watched the other children digging and then had a go himself.

Gymnastics

Jack enjoys going over to the hall and having a go at gymnastics.  He likes to jump on the trampoline and land on the mat.  He is very good at balancing on the beam.

Way to go Jack, great to see you having fun.

Flying Fox Fun

Jack has been watching the other children on the flying fox.  He has attempted it over the past couple of weeks but hasnt quite mastered it.  With help from his teacher aides, he has learnt to hang on without letting go.  Lately the other children have been giving Jack a push so he makes it to the other side.  This is a great achievement for Jack. 

Hockey

Jack had a fun afternoon learning to play hockey.  The Feilding High School came out and showed us how to play.  Jack gave it his best.

Rescue Helicopter

 

We were very lucky to have the Rescue Helicopter visit our school.

Jack was very excited.

Jack had a good look around the helicopter.

When the helicopter took off Jack waved bye bye.



Soccer Fun

Jack is staying outside the entire lunch time. He is enjoying interacting on the playground and will line up and take his turn on the flying fox.  One lunch time Jack decided to go and join the children playing soccer on the field. He ran around with them and there was lots of laughter.

Jacks 7th Birthday

Jack enjoyed sitting on the mat with his class as they sung him happy birthday.

Jack is interacting with his classroom peers a lot more lately.

Jacks Name

Jack had been practising to write his name all by himself. 

PJ and Pie Day

Jack had the most awesome time at the PJ parade.  He was laughing and clapping along to the music and joining in on the parade around the court with his class.

Jack also tried a pie for lunch.

You looked all snuggly today Jack in your PJs.

Reading/Phonics

Jack really enjoys sitting on the couch with his peers during reading time.

Sometimes his peers read to him.  He likes this a lot.

 

Jack also participates on the mat during phonics..here he is writing his name.

It is so great to see Jack settled in room 2.

Maths

Jack is learning to extend his shape knowledge.  Here he is doing his 1:1 matching of shapes using flash card and then adding the shape name to this activity.  We then go on to "saying" our shapes.  Jack does this by using his core board and pointing to the correct shape that was asked of him.  Jack also practises his shapes by drawing them.  He is doing a great job at this.  Lastly we use his Ipad, Little Writer App, and draw shapes.  We take turns with this activity.

Jack has settled into his new classroom and enjoys interacting with his new friends.

He has joined in on class activities and sits on the mat independantly.

Jack sits with other children at his desk and completes his tasks.

Celebration of Learning

Maoritanga

We have been learning about Maoritanga.  Jack has enjoyed creating a lot of different Maori art and participating in our class movie.

Numicon

Numicon is a resource that Jack is using to help his numeracy knowledge. 

Jack will sit for at least half an hour concentrating on this activity.

Puppy Visit

Mrs Short brang 3 beautiful huntaway puppies into our class.  Jack was very excited and happily sat with one on his knee.  It was wonderful to see Jack be so gentle with the puppy.  He carefully patted the puppy as it fell asleep on his knee.  You are a very kind and caring boy Jack.

Easter Surprise

The Easter Bunny visited Room 1 while we were at the Library.  What a surprise!!
He left us some very yummy treats.  Jack loves Easter Eggs.

Maths Activity

Lunch Time Fun

After the second lunch bell has rung, Jack packs up his own lunch box and puts it away.  He then likes to have a play on the computer before heading outside to climb the tyres and make his way across the fort till he gets to the swing bridge.  He loves to jump on the bridge with his classroom friends and recently enjoying other childrens company.  Its a real pleasure to see Jack interacting with other school children. 

Butterfly Art

Jack really enjoys doing art. Here he is doing his butterfly art.  Over time Jack has learnt to choose different colours and he takes note of the outline and does his best to colour in the whole picture.  With help he made his caterpillar but managed to decorate his butterfly by himself.  He is working longer on his art work with no breaks in between.  Good work Jack.

Cleaning Carnival

At the end of the day everyone in room one has a job to do.  Jacks is to wipe down the benches.  He does this with very little help.

PUZZLES

Jack has become very good at doing his own puzzles.  Here he is sitting with other children par-taking in this activity, during reading task board time.  It is nice to see Jack working alongside his peers, building his self management.

Cupcakes

Max bought in cupcakes to share with Room 1 to say farewell.  Jack was very intrigued to see what was inside the box.  He sat with his classroom and enjoyed eating the cream cheese icing off his muffin.  Great to see Jack trying new foods all the time.

Chalk Activity

A  Reading Task Board activity that Jack likes to do is to write his name outside on the concret using chalk.

MARAE VISIT

On tuesday this week we visited the Taumata o te Ra Marae.  After we were welcomed onto the Marae Jack sat and listened to Mr Kereama speak.  Afterwards we were allowed to explore the Marae.  Jack looked at all the carvings and found them very interesting to touch.  He enjoyed the textures and light colours.  Jack was very happy to be there. A great morning was had and Jack coped very well with this school visit.

Buddy Class Games

Another enjoyable afternoon with our buddy class.  Jack and Tyler teamed up for the piggy back race. Lots of laughter was had by both boys. 

Buddy Class Swim

Jack had a blast in the pool with Room 4 and his own classroom.  He got to splash and jump and play with his friends.  It was a very hot day and Jack stayed in the pool for a long time.  Jack wasnt afraid to put his head under the water today.

Reading Task Board

After morning tea we have reading task board activities.  We can read in the library corner, listen at the listening post to Tanya Batt stories, alphabet sheets, and so on.
In this time Jack chooses to read either Hairy Mclary or Wonky Donkey. He also enjoys sitting at the listening post with other children and listening to the stories.  Jack does very well with sitting with other children and doing puzzles on the mat.  He now chooses his own matching games and completes the activity with little facilation. 

Gardening

Jack enjoys spending time in the garden.  Here he is helping to dig holes for the vegetables to be planted.

Swimming Time

Jack loves the water!
When its time for swimming, Jack gets his own tog bag and dresses into his togs with little facilatation. He waits patiently with his class and walks over to the pool sensibly. He is always the first one in. Jack likes to splash in the water and jump up and down.  There is always lots of laughter.
After swimming Jack dresses with help and again waits patiently with his class till everyone is finished. 

Coreboard Success

Welcome back to school Jack...
Jack was given a new coreboard late last year with many more options available to him. 
This year Jack has jumped right into using it and is able to ask different people for help without any prompts from the Teacher/Teacher Aides. He also communicates what he wishes to do or say.
